FIROOZ WAS BORN IN TEHRAN, IRAN IN 1949. HIS FAMILY MOVED TO ENGLAND WHERE HE RECEIVED HIS SECONDARY EDUCATION. HE CAME TO THE UNITED STATES IN 1969 TO ATTEND THE SCHOOL OF FORGEIN SERVICE AT GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY. AFTER A SHORT CAREER AS A DIPLOMAT IN WASHINGTON DC HE WENT ON TO ATTEND THE CORCORAN SCHOOL OF ART AND GRADUATED WITH A DEGREE IN VISUAL COMMUNICATION IN 1976. HIS PHOTOGRAPHY CAREER STARTED AT ANDY WARHOL’S INTERVIEW MAGAZINE AROUND THAT TIME AND HE WENT ON TO BECOME THE PERSONAL PHOTOGRAPHER TO ELIZABETH TAYLOR AFTER TRAVELING WITH HER TO VARIOUS COUNTRIES AND RELOCATED TO LOS ANGELES WHEN HE WORKED ON THE SET OF ONE OF ELIZABETH TAYLOR’S FILMS. HE BUILT UP A SUCCESSFUL CAREER AS A PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER WORKING FOR MANY OF THE MAJOR MAGAZINES INCLUDING VANITY FAIR, TIME, VOGUE AND GQ.
HIS ADVERTISING WORK IN HOLLYWOOD INCLUDED THE ICONIC IMAGE FOR THE POSTER OF THE MOVIE ‘PULP FICTION.’ AT THE SAME TIME AS DOING HIS COMMERCIAL WORK, FIROOZ BUILT UP HIS PORTFOLIO OF FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY AS WELL AS COLLAGES AND EXHIBITED THE WORK AT GALLERIES IN LOS ANGELES AND NEW YORK. HIS PHOTOGRAPHS HAVE ALSO BEEN EXHIBITED AT LACMA AND THE NORTON MUSEUM IN WEST PALM BEACH. HE LIVES IN LOS ANGELES AND NEW YORK.
